December was the most profitable month to date, thanks almost entirely to e-book sales.  Ad revenue was up fractionally, which still amounts to not much, but it is going up so I’m happy.  Page views on my two main blogs are still going up, with page views on JoshAndChandra.com doubling from November. 

For the month ending December 2008, I earned $152.15 from two main sources, including e-book sales and ad revenue.  E-book sales accounted for 98.6% of revenue.  I’m still not focusing too intently on advertising, but I have started a couple of new mediums on JoshAndChandra.com that should start to generate new income in the months to come.  This includes the JoshAndChandra.com Forums and the JoshAndChandra.com Stripper Wiki.  The forums are just completed and I am going to start promoting them very soon.  The wiki is still a work-in-progress, but hopefully soon should become a great resource for people interested in the subject. 

Subscriber growth was about even for the month of December as compared to November.  But since page views and sales are increasing I’m not overly worried about this fact right now. 

To say the least, I’m happy with the results compared to the time I’ve been able to put forth.  I would say I’m proof that even with a fair amount of effort, it’s possible to start making money online is a relatively short period of time.  So get out there and do the same for yourself.  With the time and dedication, I would say you could easily expect to outperform my modest results fairly quickly at this point.

Welcome to 2009!  I hope you had a profitable last year, and wish you an even better 2009.  I have a few ideas to implement with the blog here when time permits.  Right now I’m in the process of planning for a wedding, planning for the arrival of a baby :), and working in the meantime.  All while trying to maintain my other blogs too.  I’m lucky to have time to sleep and eat right now lol.  But, I’ll get to it soon enough.  In the meantime, stay motivated and striving to earn that extra income.

WordPress 2.7 is now available for download and I’ve just upgraded LawsMoney.com’s installation of WordPress to the new version.  Per the usual installation upgrades, it was a painless effort, and it recognized that I needed to upgrade my database installation (which it did painlessly also). 

I will say, looking at the new admin interface for the first time, I am a bit lost but the look is very appealing and appears intuitive.  One thing it made clear to me right away is that I could no longer use the Simple Tags plugin and rather had to switch to the Simple Tagging Plugin (which it also provided a link to me for).

Absolutely everything else upgraded flawlessly.  As I spend more time looking around the admin panel, I will say I like it.  I like it alowt (cueing Jim Carrey voice).  As always, it is a free upgrade and you can download it directly from WordPress HERE.

A good measure of success is by comparing the present to past results.  By that standard, I could say LawsMoney is on the road to success as my online ventures posted the highest earnings ever last month (which isn’t a lot by any measure, but it’s improving every month).

For the month ending November of 2008, I earned $110.88 from my efforts online.  This came from two sources, which include e-book sales and advertising on my sites.  E-book sales accounted for over 99% of my income, as I only earned $1.09 from Google Adsense and Kontera In-Text links combined.  I currently am not focusing on either type of marketing at the moment as I don’t want to negatively impact the quality of my sites or the visitors experience with ads right now.  I have also just finished a new e-book, titled The Successful Stripper, which has already helped me reached half of what I earned in November already in only one week in December. 

Subscriber growth was up for the month of November on my two main sites, LawsMoney.com and JoshAndChandra.com, as were total page views. 

In addition to revenue growing in November, I’ve also learned my family will soon be growing also.  My fiancee Chandra and I found out she was pregnant :).  We are unbelievably excited and happy.  Until next time, keep setting and reaching new goals.

WordPress has released version 2.6.5 of their blog software to address a security issue with the previous 2.6.3 installation.

The security issue is an XSS exploit discovered by Jeremias Reith that fortunately only affects IP-based virtual servers running on Apache 2.x. If you are interested only in the security fix, copy wp-includes/feed.php and wp-includes/version.php from the 2.6.5 release package.

2.6.5 contains three other small fixes in addition to the XSS fix. The first prevents accidentally saving post meta information to a revision. The second prevents XML-RPC from fetching incorrect post types. The third adds some user ID sanitization during bulk delete requests. For a list of changed files, consult the full changeset between 2.6.3 and 2.6.5.

After using NEMedia’s RANKSENSE SEO tool for over a few weeks, I decided to write a little review of the product.  I am not an affiliate of RankSense and they are not or ever have been a sponsor of any website of mine.

On October 15th I downloaded and installed RankSense software on my Dell XPS M1710 laptop.  My laptop has an 2ghz Intel Pentium Core 2 processor with 2 gigs of memory.  After installing and starting up RankSense, I immediately noticed it’s sluggish performance going from one screen to the next.  It does call up information from the web as you progress, and I’m on a 10mbs line, but it seemed a little much.  BUT, aside from this one flaw, I found the tool rather useful.

I’m not overly educated in the area of SEO and I actually learned a bit by just using RankSense’s SEO tool.  It gave me a much better understanding of what others are actually searching for in my niche, and also what surfer’s are typing that is helping my COMPETITION!  This feature I actually liked very much as it gave me a little insight as to what others are finding success with. 

Ranksense has a nice little tutorial built into each screen as to how you can use it to your benefit and what everything on the page actually does which I found extraordinarily helpful.

Overall, I didn’t get to spend as much time as I wanted to using RankSense’s tool before my trial period was up, but besides the rather, sometimes painful, pokiness of the next screens loading, I did find a useful tool to learn and benefit from.  One additional great point about RankSense’s SEO tool, or rather about RankSense, themself:  I actually went two days past my trial period and was billed for a subscribtion.  Within 10 minutes of emailing RankSense and requesting to have my subscription cancelled and the charge reversed, IT WAS DONE!  I am amazed by the quality of their customer service and the three email’s I recived in 10 minutes beginning with acknowledgment of my email, to the completion of my charge being reversed.  They were outstanding.

Right now, I’m not overly focusing on SEO for my blogs, which I actually should be doing more then I am.  But if I was and hadn’t tried their product before, it is something that I would recommend at least checking out.  They have a 30 day free trial backed by a 90 day risk free gaurantee.  If you are currently looking for the right SEO tool for your blog or website, you having nothing to lose by trying them for 30 days.  I can personally say from experience they are an upstanding business with better then acceptable business practices.
